From VCT to Carpets: How Gamma CS Delivers Tailored Floor Care Solutions
Some facilities have the same type of carpet throughout the entire building; some, usually multitenant buildings, have different kinds of carpet and floor throughout. At Gamma we have worked in both types of buildings and know the floor care needed in some areas may be different than in others.
When you invite us into your facility we will ask what kind of maintenance level you are interested in and this could go from strip and wax if VCT floor is present or quarterly carpet cleaning.
With floors that are VCT (Vinyl Composite Tile) is simple, we know we can strip the old wax laying on it and lay new coats to maintain the shine and the cleanliness, usually these type of floor will require maintenance quarterly depending on the traffic. This type of maintenance can go from scrub and wax, or just top scrub and high speed buff.
Now when the floors are ceramic, we recommend scrubbing these regularly specially if they were not sealed when installed, which would keep water and coffee or soda away from your grout. If the sealer on the grout has worn out we can restore it, but whether you decide to do that or not regular scrubbing would at least keep cleaning the grout.
About carpet cleaning we use several different methods. We can do dry cleaning, which is a crystallizing method with a Whittaker, a machine that scrubs in two different directions at once and the dry time is very short, vacuuming the carpet thoroughly after is what gets the crystalized dirt off of the carpet. For large areas and constant traffic this is probably the best method, although once a year this carpet should be extracted to get the most dirt off of it. About spot cleaning we can incorporate spot cleaning of your carpets once or twice per month; however, not all spots will come up with spot cleaning. The best way to maintain your carpet is to get on a maintenance program that allows for frequent cleaning and maintenance of it.
At Gamma we have done all these cleaning methods from Bonneting which is also another way to dry clean, to using the Whittaker to hot water extraction, so the decision to go with any particular program could be discussed with you once we look at your building so we can best recommend what we think would keep it in the best condition.
